"
Facing Pulau Setindan, the long stretch of beach is the venue for the annual Pesta Air Papan (Air Papan Festival) held every May 1."
Air Papan is synonymous with Pesta Air Papan (Air Papan Festival), which is held annually on May 1. Each year, the event draws a huge number of local tourists to join in the fun and games. The flat and wide 3km-long beach is perfect for hosting various traditional games and cultural performances, as well as food and craft fairs.
Located about 12km north of Mersing, this beach is popular among picnickers especially on weekends and public holidays. They can swim in its blue water, play games on its wide beach or just sit back and relax under the shade of trees that line the beach. From here, one can see the faint bluish silhouette of Pulau Besar, Pulau Rawa, Pulau Tioman and Pulau Tengah, as well as smaller islands nearby such as Pulau Batu Gajah and Pulau Setingan.
There are some rows of food outlets offering local delicacies, with some shops selling beach wears and souvenirs. There are parking spaces for visitors, with vendors of sea sports equipment providing rental services. Public toilets and bathing facilities are also available for a small fee.
There is a number of resorts with traditional Malay wooden architecture, some of which have been operational for more than 20 years.
Here in Air Papan, beach games, swimming, boating and picnicking are some of the main activities. The sandy beach is equipped for group activities like team-bonding, family days and family retreats.
To get there, head for Mersing town and travel up north for another 9KM. Then turn right, passing through paddy fields for 5KM.

"The beach seems not suitable for swimming. I love the peaceful surroundings. It must be lovely to watch the sunset in the evening. " by scalia
"Nice beach. Its peaceful there. One of the best place to bring along family n friends over weekends. Not much pollution...quite clean too." by imran
"It is Pulau Setindan and not
Pulau Setingan. Spelling shd be
with 'd' and ont 'g'.
2) Suggest the authorities plant
more trees/coconut trees along
the beach. Locals like to put mats
and enjoy their foods under the
trees, and do not go for 'sun tan'." by Atan Mat Zin
"the beach is still clean, no polution yet and a nice place for a quite vacation." by mislinda

"This is the best beach that i ever been compared to PD or even morib. The clear water with white sand makes me feel so calm and peaceful. The sound of the waves was so fantastic and the trees besides the beach was trying to show the beauty of the land of Mersing Johor. The wind blew with the smell of salt and the mist of the water makes me so relax and enjoy the beauty of god creation. From the beach, I saw a dragon was hiding behind the cloudy mist, acttually it was not a dragon but the island that called Pulau Tioman. Behind the misty cloude was and island that is full with myth and legend to share with others.
I was stying in on of the chalet that is situated besides the beach. The chalet was not bad, with attached bathroom and a queen size bed. The price of the chalet was so reasonable.
There, a lot of activity that we can do like canoeing, wind surfing, fishing or even surfing. The waves was approximately about 2 to 3 metre high and it was so cool while i was jetskying. I gave 5 out of 5 it was so worth it , belives me, it's worth it to the maxxxxxxx." by shah
